Windows & Doors - letting your money flow out the window...

We've attached some photos to this page, one of which was constructed in the 1970s by one of the area's most prestigious custom home builders (Jim Coffey).  As you can see from the photo, there is a gap all the way around the window, creating cold spots.  Anyone that walks by their doors or windows that feels these are probably experiencing the same lack of insulation.  This can cost you money due to loss of heating and cooling in the winter and summer.

This is what was found when we removed the 3 1/2 inch trim from around the window in this custom built home. The homeowner noticed cold spots when standing by the window during winter which is the best time to find your hidden problems (and the most obvious).

This photo is of a customer's home who was tired of "drafty windows" and was about to spend $22,000 for new windows for their 1800 square foot ranch home. Notice the huge gaps all the way along the window.  The final bill for these homeowners was only $500 compared to $22,000 they were planning to spend for new windows.

The new windows were not necessary and if they had gotten them installed, they may have experienced a brief placebo effect thinking they actually felt warmer but in reality the problem would return, leaving them feeling cold.  Why?  Because chances are the new windows would've been installed the same way as the old because industry estimates that only about 7,500 window installers do it properly. That's not many considering the vast number of contractors who provide this service!
